ROY ROGERS RANGERS POINTS SYSTEM

The Roy Rogers Rangers have blazed a few new trails and have established a little twist to what is known as a point system.

Prizes and awards will be given to the to the top five point winners after a 5 shoot series. For three seasons Ranger Club jackets have been awarded to the Top Five Point Champions; with jackets being awarded in case of a tie. There are 15 lucky Rangers who have won the beautiful embroidered pigskin suede jackets; they are: Dusty Chaps, Billy Goat Kid, Billy Wisewolf, Calico Starr, Al Seiber, Kid Cobalt, Kern River Kidd, Buckshot Slim, Jessica James, Mac James, Butch the Bounty Hunter, Tom Valiant, Steely Eyes Earp, Horsedancer, Pearl Handle Lady and Buford McHog. Two-time winners include Calico Starr, Dusty Chaps and Kid Cobalt; as well as our first 3 time winner - Mac James who took home custom horse tack as a reward for top 5 honors!

To qualify for year-end awards all you have to do is the following:

Be a member of the Roy Rogers Rangers
Attend at least 3 Rangers shoots out of 5 in a series
Of course, the more shoots you attend, the more points you earn.
Have fun!

This is how the Roy Rogers Rangers Point System works: As you know SASS has 5 divisions for mounted shooting, so, we figure that if a division #1 bests a master #5…well, that ought to count for something. So, you get one point for just being brave enough to participate; then you earn a point for each contestant you best, and THEN you also earn the total difference between the division you are in and a contestant in a higher division of those you best in the competition.

For example: A division 1 rider bests a division 5, 3, and a 2: total points = 11. Another example: A division 5 Master riders bests a 5, 3, and a 2; total points = 4.

The Roy Rogers Rangers Point System has proven to be a lot of fun, levels out the playing field and fosters friendly competition. You never know what's going to happen, everyone has a chance. Thank you for your continued participation and support!

Always, Wildcat Kate
President, Roy Rogers Rangers
